A little history in our village !

The Edison Museum !

Vienna

a small Ontario village with a long history

Vienna, Ontario, is located on the banks of the Big Otter River, and has been described as "a blink of a town"!
According to the last census - "Vienna is a small town of 566 residents in the Otter Valley"
This village has a history dating back to 1811, but its main claim to fame is that itVienna - Thomas Edison was the birth place of one of the Grandfathers of Thomas Alva Edison - inventor of the electric light-bulb.
Thomas Edison was a prolific inventor and held over 1,000 patents.
While reading a Biography of this amazing man, I was gratified to learn that he only attended school for a period of about three months, and other than that he was educated at home by his mother - wow - Thomas Edison was Home-Schooled!

Just behind this property is a part of our lovely valley with the river known as the Otter river behind it  the same river that runs through the park I showed in my last post of our walk . I can see this valley from my kitchen window every day as well but walking it is soo much better !DSC_0049

This bridge  has been here since the early 1800s runs over the Otter river , it is just a hop, skip and a jump from our house and the road is long and comes to an end . All forest is around and it’s wonderful to hike in , see and hear all the nature !

Home again , Home again jigaty , jig !  Had that said to me as kid every time we retuned home from somewhere !

Miggy and I always enjoy our walk through and around our village but she does like coming home to her yard and toys !

Our hummers have gone now and the only thing that's supping up the nectar in the feeders are the wasps .

Another of  my fall flowered bushes have just bloomed !

Well that's , that . Hope you enjoyed the last part of our walk and  the tid bit of history we have . Believe me there’s a lot more history to this little village, so much more we have our own Historical book that goes back as far as 1855 .

This weekend is our Thanksgiving weekend  !

Until next time , Happy Thanksgiving weekend to all Canadians out in blog land and a wonderful weekend to you all !

You live in a lovely area. I didn't know Edison had family roots in Ontario.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
